BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR 2019 GOAL LIST, ASK YOURSELF:
**DURING WHAT PERCENTAGE OF TIME DO I REALLY ALIGN WITH MY GOALS?!**
This is the time of year to think about goals for the new year. Most people don’t realize how they sabotage their own creative powers. Let’s talk about how you can regain CONTROL over your own creative capacities!
There is a difference in being responsive and being intentional. Many people live in a state of hazy responsiveness to life. They are swayed by other people and by circumstances and lose their focus on what is important to them and how they really want to spend their time. MENTAL CURRENCY is so valuable, yet most people do not exercise strong control, or have self directed thoughts. Rather many people’s minds wander to some compelling distraction such as what so-and-so said, to an event of the past, or to what the news is warning about, or even to their own personal fears. When you allow your mind to slip so easily into unproductive thought patterns it becomes harder to align with your goals.
Thoughts that align with your goals would include clarity about what your intentions are, and inspired steps that you could take that would move you forward. These could be action steps or what I call state steps. State steps move you towards being able to be in the correct mental/emotional state to achieve your goal. This may be something as simple as meditation, listening to a certain type of music, researching, reading, writing or speaking to someone on your topic of interest.
A great question to ask yourself is: what percentage of time am I actually spending aligned with my goals?! Be aware that if you are spending time being afraid that you won’t achieve your goal, or feeling unworthy etc., then that is NOT actually time spent working towards your goal. You want to be in a state of optimism, and positive expectation.
So this year, resolve to dispel distractions from your life and to allow yourself the luxury of reaching for your dreams!
